A Big Decision

After a lot of soul-searching and discussion we have decided NOT to come back to Phoenix as planned. In fact we like it so much here in the Dominican Republic (it is cheap, cheap, cheap! to live here) that we are planning to stay. We are really excited about it! Kevin has been working on his Spanish and can now count to fifteen (making it easier to order fifteen beers at a time). We have priced some homes in the area and a 3000 square foot home here would only cost about 80K, so we would have plenty of space for visitors (hint, hint)! Maid/Housekeeping/Cooking service can be had here for less than a dollar a day so we would probably do that, too. Our only major expense would be hiring the security firm to provide armed guards around the house. Marksmen who are skilled with semi-automatic weapons do not come cheap. As for the boat, we will probably just scuttle it and live like kings here on the insurance money -- that will save us the trouble of bringing it the additional 700 miles to the boat broker in Florida.
